2012 Denizli Tobacco Agriculture Report
In Denizli, 13,500 producers have signed contracts with tobacco companies to produce 22,000 tons of tobacco on 262,000 decares of land. This production with Denizli, Manisa, Turkey ranks second after the production.
Tobacco planting in 2012 started on the 10th of April and continued until the 15th of June. The length of the planting period was due to the inability to enter the fields due to the rainy weather during May. Due to the weather conditions, the producers protected their seedlings by chemical fight against mildew disease (bluish fever). The rate of planting made by mixing medicine with life water was high. The fight against Aphids, Thrips and Tobacco fleas was carried out with a systemically effective drug given from life water. Plantings in Beyağaç, Kale, Tavas and Güney, which made early planting, were damaged by 10% from the hail rain. Since the onset of mild mildew was observed in Denizli tobacco production areas in the first week of June, Agriculture Directorates and tobacco companies closely followed the disease. Rising temperatures after the 10th of June have ruled out the possibility of the spread of mildew disease. In some villages of Güney and Buldan, symptoms of tomato spotted wilt virus disease were observed, and producers were recommended to root and destroy the infected plants and fight the thrips tabaci, which is its vector. Due to the rainy weather in the planting period, wild fever disease was seen in the lower leaves due to the dampness, but its spread stopped due to the warming of the weather. In some points of Tavas, Kale and Beyağaç districts, 2-3 leaves were affected on the lower leaves. After the 20th of July, the green worm fed on tobacco capsules damaged the capsules. It has caused leaf damage in plants without capsules. The drug, licensed for green worms in tobacco, was used by drawing attention to the waiting period. In August, tobacco powdery mildew was more effective in Acıpayam District and higher regions, and our producers were informed about taking precautions. Monster grass is widely available in all tobacco production centers and negatively affects tobacco yield and quality. In addition, wheather fleck-air spotting, which is a physiological disease, was also seen in mature and delayed tobacco in the lower hands.
Tobacco hoes were completed in late June and early July. The massacre started on the 15th of July and was completed at the rate of 95% at the end of September. However, even though it is the 12th of October, there are still producers doing tobacco cracking. Since the weather conditions during tobacco crushing and drying are favorable, the dried tobaccos are summer dry and of high quality. The yield is higher than last year, and the average yield per decare in Denizli is 90 kg. It is predicted to occur. Workers' wages increased up to 50 TL during the tobacco slaughter. Some producers have also made the needle calculations for the crimes. Workers engaged in Crimea took the tobacco they broke into needles and made 50-60 needles and received 75 kurus per needle.
The tobacco of the producers who completed the tobacco crushing and drying started to be bought by the companies in September. In addition, it has made periodic purchases in companies that buy hand in hand for the first time this year. It is expected that the quality assessment-expertise studies, which continue in October, will be completed in November. It is observed that prices between 9 and 12 TL have been formed. The tobacco companies that signed contracts in Denizli in 2012 are listed below.
